"My name is Hannah Warren,
I am 21 years old and I am a part time student at the University of Memphis. In 2014, I was diagnosed with a form of Muscular Dystrophy called Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1. It does not look like I have Muscular Dystrophy from appearance because this disease mostly affects my internal muscles. It mostly affects my GI and Breathing Muscles, I have been hospitalized multiple times for both. I know that God has a plan and a purpose for all of the trials I face and that good will come out of these trials.
In my spare time I like to play the piano, and I really enjoy volunteering in the fourth grade at Westminster Academy. It brings me great joy to be around the children! Another thing that I do is make YouTube Videos (you can find me by searching "Hannah's Hope"). I share my story with the world to hopefully raise awareness about Muscular Dystrophy. I also am an MDA ambassador and speak to businesses and Fire Departments that support MDA.
Another thing that I like to do sometimes is arm knit and crochet. It is something that I enjoy and distracts me when I am in pain or not feeling well which with Myotonic Dystrophy is pretty often. For exercise I like to swim, bike, and when the weather is nice walk outside.
